Truffle Hunting Tours

Black Tie Tours is now offering truffle hunting tours on a limited basis. Tromp around the Oregon wilderness with a real truffle dog team! You will learn truffle hunting do's and don’ts, storage/care of truffles, Oregon truffle history and how to use those delicious little nuggets in your own kitchen should you choose to take some home.

A Bougie Truffle Tromp

The Bougie Truffle Tromp begins with a pickup from a Downtown Newberg location. We’ll transport you to our local truffle forest to meet up with the truffle hunting team and guest winemaker. Then you’ll learn some of the basics of truffles and truffle hunting from Stefan before setting out into the woods. That’s where the magic happens! The truffle team will work hard and get as many quality truffles as they can before you move on to lunch.

Lunch will be served in a covered area by a master local chef. Weather permitting, They’ll cook the fresh and local fare over a fire on site and incorporate fresh truffles so you can enjoy the tasty delights we just unearthed!

Our guest winery will pour their wines during lunch and tell you all about their process, history and what makes those wines special to them. Oregon pinot noir and truffle are a natural pairing!

Time depending, we’ll take another jaunt into the woods and see if we can add to our catch.

These are group tours so expect to meet some fellow truffle enthusiasts! Groups will be limited to 10 guests. Inquire about reserving a private tour for you and your friends.

We do a lot of tours and feed a lot of people lunch so we do need to purchase a fair amount of truffles to sustain these activities. Starting this year, we are committed to using only dog-found, high-quality truffles for our truffle lunches. To support this endeavor, please consider purchasing some truffles to take home at the end of the day.

Have you seen Pig - starring Nicolas Cage? Stefan, Chris and Jack consulted on the film. Though we don’t use pigs to find truffles here, it’s still a great watch and the movie Nic says he wants to be remembered by!
